Nurse. 21. Sometimes, I just feel so intellectual at few things. But most of the time, I feel plain clueless about stuff.

Photography. Pokemon. Relationships. Classics. Sci-fi. RPGs. Ze internet. :)

So yeah, expect posts about Nursing and health in general, with an equally healthy dose of Photography, reblogs, and anything deemed artsy.

Best friends and I topped the boards. In retrospect, we had a really healthy dose studying AND playing (Rock Band, arcades, etc.) Just can’t believe it.

FINALLY. The day of freedom. The day of recognition.

My bestfriend Bayani delivering his Valedictory speech.

Thank you to bestfriend Jhe for giving me five golden seconds of wearing that “Best in Clinicals” medal. I personally think this honor surpasses the Latin honors since it really shows who the best nurse at the bedside is.

The research defense was a success! One of the profs actually said she would like it to be continued by the next batch of seniors.
And here we are, in a silly attempt to portray intubation with our wonderful professor. Yesterday, March 23, 2012, was the last academe-related gathering of our class.
Next stop… graduation!

A semester’s worth of papers. I’m having mixed emotions on cleaning this mess up. I feel sad since it would be the last batch of paper-y mess I’ll be stockpiling in college.
On the other hand, I also feel excited to clean this up due to my obsessive-compulsive tendencies. :))

Had fun at Laiya, San Juan, Batangas. Our batch stayed at Kabayan Resort. The accommodation was really nice, in my opinion, despite having a small beachfront.
Also, as our N121.2 duty finally came to a feel-good summer conclusion, I can finally say that I’m DUTY-FREE. Yeah! :D

At the Day Care Center…

As part of our program implementations regarding the reduction of URTI cases in the barangay, we conducted a school-based teaching.

We first provided a brief discussion about URTIs (upper respiratory tract infections) to the parents… at how one gets it, what to do, and how to avoid it.

This was followed by a fun story telling session with the kids, regarding proper hygiene and good nutrition.

They also had the chance to do the actual hand washing before they ate their lunch. Our prof was also there to monitor what we were doing.

I just hope the kids would remember this and do this every time! :)

Due to the insistent demands of our batchmates, we finally gave them a tour of Barangay Pinagbayanan.
Having been to the beach area earlier that afternoon to visit my patients — a 20-minute walk from our foster home and another for the return trip, I was not that really enthusiastic in bringing them to the seaside.
They enjoyed the challenging mangrove ‘trail’ and the windy beach wherein sea turtles lay their eggs. In the end, my spiritless mood was livened up by the “pestonara” (pesto + carbonara) our classmate cooked for us. :))

033/366 We’re the Pinagbayanan Artistic Threesome Trio!
Henri is just great all around - dancing, digital and traditional art, public speaking, acting). Lao is adept at singing, dancing, AND acting. I’m mostly on digital art and photography.
We hope to use our skills in creatively teaching the residents of Barangay Pinagbayanan about the importance of achieving a healthy lifestyle and a clean environment. Of course, these goals wouldn’t be possible without our collaboration with the medical interns, public health students, and social work interns.

Farewell for now, my morbidly obese hospital notebook. May your innards of knowledge, patient care, and drama bring to my professors the thoughts of giving a 1.0 grade to me.
Hello, young and yet-to-be-opened community notebook. We’ll have an 8-week adventure together in Pinagbayanan, San Juan, Batangas. Let’s make the most out of it!

019/366 Angel
What I shall miss most in Ward 11 is baby Angel, our cute little orphan who was left by his father in the hospital around 5 months ago.
Back then, she was admitted for protein-energy malnutrition, conjunctivitis and community acquired pneumonia. She also had a phase in November wherein she had parasitism. Her conjunctivitis progressed into a corneal ulcer. And with all these, she also had a global developmental delay.
BUT LOOK AT HOW CUTE SHE LOOKS NOW! s/p pupiloplasty, on daily physical therapy, and optha check-ups. :3
I just hope that I’ll have opportunities to visit the ward again. :)

This put a smile on my face. Here’s to hoping for a “You’re hired!”-esque announcement from PGH to me by the end of the year. :)
